Mimic Shape

Mimi is a Mimic who has been working for Serini Toormuck for seven years, as of strip #1292, Plus the Dramatic Lighting. She serves Serini (and eventually the Order) as more of a utility monster [1] than a combatant in multiple instances (see “Abilities”, below). In addition, she possesses several abilities (and hindrances) that suggest that she is an irregular mimic.

In her first appearance, she blocks the hole into the cavern where Serini and Sunny ambush the Order, preventing them from escaping.[3] She later joins up with the deluxe Order to traverse the Final Dungeon.

Abilities

Mimi is a mimic, but has apparently above-standard capabilities despite being only Medium-sized.

Personality

Not much of Mimi's personality is known, between her limited screentime and inability to speak. She has shown loyalty to Serini, whom she has been working with for seven years. She has shown willingness to help her cause (mimics have an average intelligence score of 10,[2] meaning she is likely able to understand the purpose of the Gates and the importance of protecting them, if Serini told her), volunteering on her own to join Serini and the deluxe Order of the Stick in the Final Dungeon, despite being not a combat monster. She has also shown compassion for her fellow monsters, rushing ahead to become a pillow for the wounded Urdook to rest on.[4] She has even shown compassion for Belkar, further proving that her compassionate side and her team spirit are... quite above average, at the very least.

Despite her inability to speak Common, Mimi is perfectly able to understand it, and from her reactions we can get a glimpse of her personality traits. In addition to swiftly following Serini's instructions (indicative of the loyal part of her personality), she seems to enjoy her “conversation” with Minrah[5] (indicative of some degree of cheerfulness or an extroverted nature),

Less useful for our purposes are her other interactions with Belkar. She seemed to be frustrated with his annoying comments[6](which, admittedly, is the expected result for almost any intelligent creature, and not much indicative of any specific personality trait); but still shows empathy during his (imagined) predicament in Acid Wash, implying that her WIS score is greater than his (then again, as his WIS is in the range usually reserved for lemmings, that only means her wisdom is likely not below average). An above average Wisdom score would be in line with the typical mimic wisdom score of 13.

In the Order's fight against Calder, we learn that she gets to be impulsive (if her general eagerness had not been enough of a clue already) by her willingness to non-verbally sas Calder in Cold Open and, earlier in that battle, by her bringing herself up to a walkway as soon as she reached the top, before O'Chul and Lien were able to climb up her ladder form, leaving them behind.
