Trivia
- The title of the strip refers to the prophecy given to Roy by the Oracle of the Sunken Valley in #331, For the Future. Roy asks whether Xykon will arrive at Girard's Gate or Kraagor's Gate first, forgetting that Soon's Gate was also a possibility. The Oracle prophesied that Xykon would arrive at Girard's Gate first, knowing that Xykon would actually attack Soon's Gate and the events surrounding the Battle of Azure City would envelop the Order of the Stick for a long time before that would happen. Had Xykon arrived any later than he did, Girard's Gate would not have existed.
- This is a third time a Gate explodes with a krackkakoom sound, as noted on #696 (with minor changes in letters c/k and the amounts of a's). Previous gate explosions were in comics #120 and #463. There's an extra craaaackakoom in Start of Darkness, as Lirian's Gate is destroyed.
