Haley: Now focus, Elan. Little Miss Stick-Up-Her Butt may have blown off Roy's plan, but those captives still need to be rescued.

Haley: Uh oh, a guard ogre. And he's carrying equipment, which probably means he has class levels.

Elan: Don't worry, Haley! Vaarsuvius has been teaching me how to use my illusions better. I can get us past this guy.
Haley: Oh, you're just so cute when you are unjustifiably confident.

Elan is looking at his reflection.
Elan: There's another ogre in the water!

Elan: I'll hold him off! You go free the captives!

Elan jumps in the water and the illusion ends, "splish! splash!"
Haley: On second thought, maybe Roy doesn't need to know about any of this.
Elan: Watch out! I think he turned invisible!
D&D Context
- In the Player's Handbook, the Inspire Competence class feature is described as not working with every skill and specifically gives Move Silently as an example.
- Disguise Self is a 1st-level Bard spell that changes your appearance, but not the sound of your voice.
- At his current level (8-9th according to the author), Elan should have access to at least 3rd level bard spells, though using such powerful magic is somewhat out of keeping with Elan's character. Thus far he has only shown the use of 1st level spells.
